7.Technical provisions
SpoletoNorcia in MTB is an ecological pedalling on a mountain bike, where onlymountain bicycles, mountain tandems, fat bikes and gravel bikes are allowed. Mountain bikes with assisted pedalling are also allowed (La SpoletoNorcia in e-MTB). The fact that these types of bicycles are allowed does not mean that the route is suitable for them and it is the responsibility of each participant to pedal with the most appropriate bicycle for the route, for the weather conditions and for their own expertise.
8.Mandatory Equipment
All participants, during the event, must:
– Wear a helmet;
– Position the front number correctly;
– Obligatory use of adequate individual lighting tools for the unlit tunnels along the route;
– Provide adequate clothing to shelter from the cold;
– Get a repair kit for any technical adjustments
– Have at least one full water bottle on departure.
It is advisable to carry out a technical check of the vehicle before taking off. There is an obligation to install adequate individual front and rear lighting tools on the bicycle for the sections inside the tunnels. For sections outside the railway or in road crossings, the Highway Code and FCI regulations apply. Considering that the ride will take place in any weather condition, each biker must be adequately equipped, also calculating sudden changes in weather, and equipped with adequate clothing to shelter from the cold inside the galleries.
9. Security measures
To protect the participants, the use of a helmet is mandatory throughout the event and an approved high-visibility jacket is recommended. The route of the former Spoleto-Norcia railway could foresee (depending on the passable sections of the route on the day of the event) the transit in unlit tunnels, therefore, each competitor must be equipped with an adequate front and rear lighting system. The participant is solely responsible for non-compliance with the rules mentioned in this regulation. The conduct, especially the participants in the cycling event, must be appropriate to the type of event that involves the presence of several thousand people. Extreme care is recommended so as not to cause accidents for oneself and for others. Inappropriate behaviour will lead exclusion from the event. The bottom of the railway is mostly gravel surface type (residual of the embankment) and the conditions are variable depending on the stretch you are traveling on. The sections outside the railway are: asphalt, dirt, single-track with very steep climbs and technical descents . A moderate speed is recommended, especially downhill, to avoid falls caused by the inconsistency of the surface. The same recommendations apply to participants in competitive courses.
10.Traffic rules
The competition will take place on both public and private roads NOT NECESSARILY CLOSED TO TRAFFIC, even if they are cart tracks or paths. For the sections to be covered outside the former Spoleto-Norcia railway, even where the organisation will monitor the intersections of the routes, all participants are required to comply with the Highway Code.
Remember to strictly keep to the right side of the road and proceed in single file.
Carefully observe all the signs prepared by the organisation. In the sections where the Highway Code is not in force, reference will be made to the UCI-FCI-ARI regulations. No responsibility will be attributable to the organisers for non-compliance with the above.
11. Rules for the protection of the environment
It is strictly forbidden to throw waste along the route.
The waste must be thrown into the bins placed inside and after the refreshment points. It is also forbidden to abandon the planned route. Anyone who does not respect the rules will be deprived of the number certifying participation.
12.Responsibility
The event is covered by RC insurance stipulated through the FCI.
Voluntary registration and participation in the event is also considered a tacit declaration of physical fitness for this non-competitive amateur sporting activity. The organisation, which according to current regulations, would not be required to request a medical certificate of good health from the participant. The O.C. considers that with the registration the biker has the physical fitness inherent to the law provided for by the Ministerial Decree 28.2.83 on health protection for non-competitive activities. This will decline any civil and criminal liability for what may physically happen, before, during and after the event, requires a certificate of sound and robust constitution or a valid FCI card. In particular, complaints or injuries caused by failure to comply with the regulations of the present rules, FCI rules and non-compliance with the Highway Code, early departures or deviations from the route traced by the organisation will not be taken into consideration. Participation in the events of La SpoletoNorcia in MTB is at your own risk. By registering, the participant renounces any right of complaint, including against third parties, against the O.C., the ASD MTB Club Spoleto, and all those natural and legal persons involved in organising the event. Furthermore, by registering, the competitors confirm that they are in good physical condition to be able to sustain a physical effort like La SpoletoNorcia in MTB. The vehicular traffic during the event is open and therefore the absolute observance of the Highway Code is in force.
13.Withdrawals and time gates
Participants who abandon the competition or cycle tourism must present themselves at the check-points or refreshment points located along the route and return the numbered front panel to a person in charge. Participants who exceed any maximum time limits will be stopped and must hand over the numbered front panel. The number plates of the “FINISHERS” must NOT be returned upon arrival. There is no shuttle service for the return of those who retire.
14.Rules of Conduct
